  • Legacy.mp In‑Game Rules

This is the authoritative ruleset for roleplay on Legacy.mp. It aims to be clear, compact, and unambiguous without scripting every edge case. Where the rules are silent, staff use common‑sense discretion in favor of immersion and fairness. When in doubt, finish the scene, then use /report or /helpme.

    0. Foundations

    • Respect out of character. No harassment, bigotry, stalking, doxxing, or OOC vendettas.

    • Stay in character. Keep IC and OOC separate; avoid PM arguments and OOC salt.

    • Finish the roleplay. Do not quit/AFK to dodge outcomes. Stay in‑game ~30 minutes after an active scene unless all involved agree otherwise.

    • Follow staff direction. If you disagree, comply first, then appeal through the proper channels.

Examples that break this: PM insults; spamming; ignoring staff instruction; refusing to RP a crash that wasn’t obvious desync; using a script menu at a staffed business without emoting.

    1. Powergaming (PG)

Do not force outcomes, skip consequences, or claim abilities your character could not reasonably have.

    • Emote the start of hostile actions before relying on scripts (muggings, brawls, grabs). Scripted /ame lines don’t replace suitable emotes.

    • Inventory honesty: If it isn’t stored script‑wise in a car/property, it’s considered on you.

    • Tackle/downs/quick melees need follow‑up RP (positions, control, aftermath). Farming melee hits on a floored target without emoting is PG.

    • Public risk matters: brandishing or robberies in busy places require credible risk assessment.

Breaks the rule: parkour‑stunt driving to ignore physics; sprinting/drawing while held at gunpoint; looting under fire or before stabilizing wounds; returning later only to loot; looting with no RP.

    1.1 Property Powergaming

    • Safes/containers must be discoverable through credible search. No clipping items in voids/behind immovable walls/under maps.

    • Hidden rooms/mechanisms require mappable elements.

    1.2 Frisk & Search Conduct

    • Searcher emotes what/where is searched; target answers via /do before any script command fires.

    • Unusual hiding spots require prior roleplay; otherwise use common‑sense carry locations (wallet pocket, gun waistband, etc.).

    • Disputes? Keep roleplaying. Items stay with the target until staff resolves.

    1.3 Injury States

    • Downed (no headshot): survivable with swift aid; pursue EMS/hospital RP.

    • Forced death state: if timely medical aid is plausible, /report for a survival ruling.

    • Headshot downed or full death state: scene is a PK for that character.

    • Self‑declared fatal injuries may be CK at staff discretion.

    1.4 Suicide‑by‑Cop

    • Intentionally provoking death to skip charges → revive + enhanced sentence, formal warning; repeat → heavier action/CK.

    2. Metagaming (MG)

IC info must be earned in character. OOC comms may not carry IC data, and your own characters may not share information.

    • One character per objective/scene. No alt handoffs or indirect relays.

    • Third‑party voice/DMs are not IC unless a staff‑approved IC platform.

    • Don’t identify people by nametags or through opaque glass; don’t hover to read tags; no /do describes “Name”.

Breaks the rule: Discord warning pings; scouting on one char and acting on another; asking masked players OOC for identity.

    3. Violence, Escalation & Deathmatching (DM)

Use force only with solid motive, proper escalation, and visible roleplay.

    • Vehicles as weapons only for immediate, credible threats to life. Low‑speed door checks require emoting.

    • Lethal force on law enforcement only with an active threat to life or a realistic, severe jeopardy scenario.

    • Knuckledusters are lethal only when emotes make that intent clear (head/throat or explicit lethal language).

Breaks the rule: shooting over insults or petty reports to police; escalating a fistfight to gunfire; killing solely for a car break‑in.

    3.1 Rules of Engagement (RoE)

Faction conflict follows the Legacy.mp RoE published in the Faction Hub; RoE extends these DM rules.

    4. Character Build & Appearance

    • Characters must be grounded in the setting. Staff may request adjustments.

    • Dress/weather portrayal applies; emote downsides if under/over‑dressed.

    • Obscuring your face requires an IC reason and plausible circumstances.

    • /mask only when the mask actually hides identity.

Model/Gender notes: Using a different‑sex ped is allowed, but /attributes must reflect a believable presentation; avoid over‑sexualized public attire. (M) characters need permission for gender‑change surgery roleplay.

    5. Character Rules

    • Names: No celebrity/fiction clones, meme/gag names, or special characters. Use Firstname Middlename (optional) Lastname (hyphen allowed) that fits background.

    • Age: Default 16+; 13–15 allowed only for vetted gang concepts with FM oversight.

    • Continuity: New characters after CK/namechange must be independent of prior arcs. Faction returns follow FM rules.

    • Court: No namechange for 14 days after court conclusion; satisfy seizures first. Don’t delete if you’re a party/witness.

    • Extreme concepts: serial killing, terrorism, etc. need prior approval.

    • One UCP account per player.

    6. Mods, Macros & Unfair Advantages

    • No advantage‑granting tools (cheats, macros, automation) that replace roleplay.

    • Client mods are cosmetic only; clothing swaps must resemble replaced slots.

    • Controllers permitted for driving/flying; not for gunfights (aim assist).

Breaks the rule: editing handling; spawning items; godmode/armor without IC access; macro‑spam for RP.

    7. Bug Exploits

Report bugs; don’t use them. Testing only with staff oversight.

Breaks the rule: duplicate glitches; driving locked/dealer vehicles via exploit; profiting from misconfigured properties; staying silent on an exploited bug.

    8. Sensitive/Graphic Roleplay (Consent‑Gated)

Covers torture, dismemberment, graphic gore, and sexual acts (see §17). Allowed only with:

    • explicit OOC consent of all involved;

    • private/secluded setting;

    • bystanders may leave; those who choose to stay are deemed consenting observers.

Never allowed: incest, cannibalism, bestiality, necrophilia, paedophilia, rape/forced sexual acts. Leaving sexual/offensive notes for others to stumble upon counts as non‑consensual offensive RP (except clearly 18+ marked items).

    9. Theft, Scams & Break‑ins

    Definitions:

    • Mugging: taking by force/threat/fear from a person.

    • Robbery: holding up a store/business (requires approval unless pre‑planned ops are cleared).

    • Burglary: breaking/entering to steal.

    • Scam: obtaining value by deception.

    9.1 Person‑to‑Person Theft

    • Take only what the target has on them right now. Respect zone limits (see §11).

    • No forcing ATM/bank withdrawals or card charges.

    • No baiting victims via taxi/delivery/ad scripts without staff‑cleared setups.

    9.2 Business Robberies

    • In‑the‑moment store holdups don't need /report approval. Low‑impact shoplifting for roleplay doesn’t also.

    • Property cashbox represents till cash; stealing the register transfers that value.

    • Government/NPC‑blip stores and most small public venues need approval; weapon/gambling/high‑end robberies require staff request.

    9.3 Properties & Vehicles

    • For property searches; admin may place undefined items in plain view.

    • Tenants with keys still need to roleplay to search/take what isn’t theirs (motels excluded -- at your risk).

    • Vehicles: with a lockpick; emote before/after beginning. Hotwire requires RP before/after (not while already driving off).

    9.4 Scam Ceiling

    • Money scam cap: $250,000. You cannot scam properties. No cap for drugs/weapons or loans, but NC/CK/namechange to dodge debts will be reversed and punished.

    9.5 Unrealistic Crime Sprees

    • “Robbery‑only” alts, key-chaining 5+ muggings, or stacking heavy firepower only to provoke gunfights are punishable.

    10. Property Damage

    • Semi‑permanent damage to real estate (arson, demolition) doesn't require staff approval but requires realistic reasoning and IC evidence.

    • Minor vandalism/graffiti is fine with common sense.

    11. Anti‑Crime Zones (ACZ)

Areas with heavy security, population, or surveillance restrict certain crimes.

    • NCZ (No‑Crime Zone): Crime forbidden unless situation started outside the zone.

    • RCZ (Restricted Crime Zone): Mugging/kidnapping need valid IC reasons but not staff approval; high‑heat crimes demand stronger justification.

    • Neutral: Standard rules apply.

Legacy.mp will publish an ACZ map. Typical examples:

    • NCZ: police/jails/prison compounds; active hospital interiors; airports/airfields; government buildings; dealerships and mod shops; clothing/barber stores; gun stores/security HQs.

    • RCZ: tourist promenades and crowded beaches; downtown core & main squares; university campus; freeways/ramps; gun‑store parking lots; ports/docks; power stations.

Notes: Alleys near an NCZ aren’t protected by NCZ. Starting in neutral and fleeing into ACZ doesn’t grant immunity.

    12. Abuse of Legal Licenses (e.g., PF)

Characters primarily created to funnel legal firearms to others, or to stock illegal groups, may be sanctioned if abused.

    13. Real‑World Trading (RWT) & OOC Transfers

    • Exchanging any OOC value for IC value is banned.

    • No gifting/discounting to friends/alts for OOC reasons. Cross‑character moves require an approved asset transfer which will be granted 90% of times if valid reasons.

Breaks the rule: selling guns for real money; cheap transfers to OOC friends; dumping assets before NC/CK/quit.

    14. Weapon Scrolling & Handling

No emote required: small melee (knife, bottle, knuckles, etc.), small pistols, small throwables, compact machine pistols.

    Emote required:

    • Any weapon scrolled in a vehicle (and the immediate exit scroll to skip animations).

    • Shooting from a vehicle: emote just prior to opening fire unless already taking fire.

    • Long guns (shotguns, rifles, SMG Mk2/carbines, etc.).

Breaks the rule: pulling a Compact Rifle with no RP; scrolling a heavy pistol inside a car with no RP; producing a crowbar from thin air.

    15. Businesses & Ads

Follow Property/Business rules. Keep ads IC, concise, and non‑spammy.

    • /ad: private general ads (buy/sell items, events, jobs, services). No illegal goods/services; no firearm trading outside licensed businesses.

    • /cad: company recruitment/events; no restricted items (trackers, test kits, extended mags, machetes).

    • /bad: map blip to mark open businesses. Don’t rotate ad types or other players to bypass cooldowns.

Breaks the rule: coded hitman ads; narcotic/weapon ads; sexual/escort ads without licensed agency; “maxed/fully mapped” OOC phrasing.

    16. Jail & Prison (Summary)

    • Assume continuous staffing and surveillance ICly; contact staff what they could plausibly see before acting.

    • Fear roleplay applies. Trolling may result in CK and admin action.

    • CO lethal force in clear escape attempts can result in inmate CK (context matters).

    • Abuse of prison requests/prison events is punishable.

    • Non‑lethal 1v1 fights okay in secluded areas with mutual agreement; riots/CO attacks require minimum staffing as announced by DOC and notification via prison event.

    • Shanks/weapons are script-wise items and you can only retrieve them by trading/crafting.

    • Escapes (planned/breakout) require authorization and minimum CO counts; inmate deaths during escapes = CK.

    17. Sexual Roleplay (ERP)

    • Players under 18 may not participate. Characters under 18 may not participate or enter erotic venues.

    • ERP requires explicit OOC consent, private setting, and compliance with §8. Anyone may stop at any time.

    • Rape/forced acts are absolutely forbidden.

    • Sexual harassment that involves non‑consensual touching (e.g., groping) is not permitted.

    • Characters/accounts made primarily to ERP are forbidden.

    18. Lore & Setting

    • Use the Legacy.mp world and in‑universe brands/locations (e.g., Liberty City, not New York).

    • You can bring current real‑world geopolitical events IC (e.g., COVID‑19, Ukraine‑Russia, Israel‑Palestine) if conversation leads to it but reference to §0 rule.

    • Always use lore-friendly branding for factions/businesses/companies/etc. Real life brands aren't allowed to be used or roleplayed.

    19. Returning After Death or Major Injury

    • Don’t re‑enter the scene/group until the situation and immediate aftermath are over.

    • Significant injuries require believable treatment RP. Wait ~1 hour or until injury RP naturally concludes -- more for major trauma.

    • Law enforcement should not return to duty until initial investigation concludes and must honor faction medical leave policies.

    20. Enforcement & Appeals

    • Sanctions scale with severity/history: reminder → content edit/removal → warning → temp mute/ban → long ban → permanent ban → CK where applicable.

    • Extremely severe violations (hate/extremism, doxxing, cheats/malware, sexual content involving minors) may jump to permanent ban.

    • You may contact the handling admin; unresolved concerns can be escalated via staff report with evidence.
